There's no doubt that Haiti animals need help, but the situation seems so hopeless that many wonder why even try. Haiti Dog

After all, life was hard for them even before the earthquake. Most aren't treated as pets and instead live on the streets and raid garbage just to survive.

Veterinary care is rare so they don't even receive routine vaccinations against rabies and other diseases.

The fact that so many homeless dogs and cats live outdoors may have actually saved them during the earthquake, but the aftermath has left them in much worse shape. As the people struggle to find food and water there will be even less for the animals.
